Major reorganization of NYIGF planned for 2013

to include Baby + Child juried category in 2010

"Focus Forward NYIGF 2013," a strategic reorganization of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) was recently announced, comprising a series of considered changes to product categories and layout, according to GLM. Among the changes are the addition of Baby + Child, a new juried category debuting during the summer of 2010.

As part of NYIGF Lifestyle, which will include personal care and wellness, gift and stationery, and fashion accessories. The summer market is scheduled August 14-19 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94.
The instruction of Baby + Child as a juried collection for upscale baby and children's products is designed to present a comprehensive collection of well-designed, sophisticated, and purpose-driven products for babies, toddlers, and kids through 10 years of age. The range of featured products will include arts and crafts, books, music, toys, games, puzzles, dolls and plush, diaper bags, stroller accessories, feeding accessories, wearables and accessories, layette, bedding accessories, and blankets. Ultimately, NYIGF plans that Baby + Child will feature some 200 companies on Level One of the convention center.
NYIGF is one of four comprehensive market collections created as part of the transformation process. The other collections are: NYIGF Home, NYIGF Handmade, and NYIGF New! Each of the new collections has its own defined and carefully-edited product categories. The changes are enigneered to expand resources, spotlight new product and innovation to best advantage and create cross-marketing opportunities.
"This strategic reorganization will enhance NYIGF's position as the premier U.S. home, gift, and lifestyle market and will strengthen show performance for buyers and exhibiitors alike," says Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGG director and GLM senior vice president.
Beginning in 2010 and culminating at the summer 2013 event, temporary and permanent NYIGF floor plan changes will align with planned construction and renovation of New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, which will include a new green roof (the largest of its kind in the city). Also involved are construction of the New Javits Center North, which extends the building north to 40th Street.
